Individuals who have experienced homelessness and housing unstability tend to go unseen, unheard and unacknowledged for their extraordinary accomplishments.
Over the past 3 years, I have had the honor of filming people who have dared to openly share their stories with raw honesty with me and my team. They are proof that homelessness is by no means a life sentence.Through stories of determination, courage, and community, the feature film we're making, From Hope to Home shatters the false narratives that surround the housing crisis.
Why This Film Matters More than ever
Homelessness in the United States increased by 18% between 2023 and 2024. We are all at risk, as we've seen this past year. The housing crisis is one of the most urgent challenges facing us.
The National Coalition for the Homeless, Covenant House, Westside Food Bank, Housing is a Human Right, the Institute for Resiliency at Fordham University, and our other collaborative partners agree on the critical need to destigmatize homelessness to address this ever-growing crisis.
That’s exactly what we aim to do, using the power of story. This story-centered feature documentary film explores the housing crisis through the lens of success and resilience, instead of stigma and shame.
Preview Screening Events
While we continue in post-production on the film, we are presenting live screening events as part of our Dare to Share impact campaign. Each one combines 'first-look' film footage with panels and/or group conversations. Last week I presented one at the National Coalition for the Homeless' annual conference in Cincinnati.
Here's a 2-minute clip from Robyn, one of the people featured in FH2H, who was on my panel at the NCH conference and will join me again on Dec 6th in Los Angeles (see the invitation below.)
Two Upcoming Events
Though we've been fully focused on the film, we are also bringing events like these to audiences. Please join us and also let us know if you are interested in hosting one or a series.

Instead of focusing on stigma or shame, FH2H brings forward powerful stories of resilience, healing, and the transformative promise of permanent supportive housing. We want audiences to see homelessness not as an issue “out there,” but as a chapter in a growing number of people's lives. A chapter deserves to be better understood through reality-based assessment as well as with empathy and an open mind.

A Human-Centered Lens on a National Crisis
At the heart of From Hope to Home are the people whose lives are most shaped by policy decisions, social services, and community perceptions. The documentary centers on individuals who have climbed out of homelessness, pulling back the curtain on their hopes, rock bottoms, triumphs, and everyday realities.
Let me know if you want to find out more, and thank you so much for your interest and consideration.
