And Speaking of Screenings...
The Seeds of Vandana Shiva is going into into its next phase today.
For those of you who participated in Taking a Stand, my Spring '21 SSR Online Screening Salon Series, you already know that Dr. Vandana Shiva is a modern-day revolutionary. You were also able to spend time in group conversation with the film's producers/directors, Camilla and Jim Becket.
Here's an except from their Directors' Statement as well as an update from them:
"We were first introduced to Vandana Shiva at a series of environmental conferences almost 20 years ago. And, like most people on their first meeting with her, we realized immediately that we were in the presence of an eco-activist rock star."
"The film has had a fantastic film festival run, received accolades from audiences, and won many awards. Now we're busy making plans to share it with the world. To celebrate and launch this next phase of outreach and impact, we're making The Seeds of Vandana Shiva directly available for individual viewing , but only between July 22nd and August 5th.
Thank you for your continued support and patience. We appreciate you!"
So in celebration of the next leg of the journey of Camilla and Jim's film, I invite you to register and watch the film.
For a suggested donation of $4.99 (or more if you're so inclined), you'll also be adding a ripple to the Seeds of Vandana impact campaign that is in the works.
Feel free add other ripples by sharing it with your friends... and if you convene your own screening salon, let me know, and if I can make it, I definitely will!
About Dr. Vandana Shiva and the Film:
For over 40 years Dr. Shiva has been fighting a heroic battle on behalf of humanity and the natural systems that support us. She is an icon of activism for those engaged with organic food and farming, climate change, biodiversity, seed sovereignty, globalization, and social justice.
Thanks to filmmakers, this feature length documentary tells her remarkable life story on film. Here is the story of a girl who used education to escape the caste and gender constraints of traditional Indian society, which culminated in a degree in Nuclear Physics, and then a Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Quantum Theory...But those achievements were just a prelude to her awakening as a fully-committed activist.
The Seeds of Vandana Shiva focuses on the people, circumstances and seminal events in Vandana’s life—what shaped her thinking and defined her purpose. It also shows how the battle against multinational agribusiness has become an international struggle between two visions for feeding the world.
I hope you'll watch (or re-watch) this film. Again, here's the link to register.
If you convene your own screening salon, let me know, and if I can make it, I would be thrilled to join in!
Here's to the ripples in your life and beyond,
Christine
